„Without health life is not life“. We all know this saying – but only realize its truth as soon as we face a problem. Especially in economically poorer countries the access to quality health facilities is often restricted – and/or very expensive. Vulnerable people – which include mothers, newborns, children with or without disabilities – are the most effected ones in these matters – and therefore are the target group of the „Capacity Strengthening for Quality Health Service Programme in Shashemene (SHEP)“, which was developed to contribute to the overall well-being of vulnerable groups in Shashemene City and its surroundings through improved health care services for around 75.000 individuals living in Shashemene City and its surroundings. To reach this goal, the Shashemene Catholic Health Center (SCHC) – which is well known for its excellent services, but lacks infrastructure and permanent training of the staff, will receive a much needed overall „update“.
Moreover, 25% of families with orphans and neglected children in Shashamene City and its surrounding areas will be supported and thereby improved their health and nutritional status by creating access to quality-based health facilities and home-level healthcare services by the end of June 2028.
