In Madhesh Province, in the southeast of Nepal, many young women and girls face barriers like poverty, early marriage, and limited access to education, jobs, and resources. These challenges, rooted in traditions and gender inequality, prevent them from achieving their full potential and building a better future for themselves and their families.
The SheLeads project addresses these issues by providing practical skills training, career guidance, and support to help young women start small businesses or find meaningful employment. It also fosters leadership skills, encouraging women to participate in decision-making in their communities. Beyond economic empowerment, the project works to challenge harmful practices like child marriage and promote gender equality in the public discourse.
Through partnerships with local governments, organizations, and private businesses, SheLeads creates sustainable change. By improving access to training, financial resources, and opportunities, the project helps women break free from poverty, gain confidence, and build brighter futures. SheLeads aims to transform not only individual lives but also entire communities by empowering young women to become leaders and role models.
