Foreword by the Founder
It is a sad fact, that many children, adolescents, and young women live on the shadowy side of life. Ostracized from society, despised and discriminated against, they are deprived of opportunities and hope. Because I wanted to bring light into the lives of those in need of help and provide them with sustainable support, I decided to found the Ursula Zindel-Hilti Foundation in 2006.
The Foundation’s objective is to help children, adolescents and young women, whose daily lives are defined by poverty, fear, abuse and the absence of fundamental human rights. We want to provide them with safe accommodation, medical assistance, food and education, which we try to realise – whenever possible – within their homes, which will ultimately benefit the living conditions of the affected families as well. Where it is not possible for the children, adolescents and young women to live with their families, we try to create a family environment, providing a new home that gives them a sense of security, support and loving care. It is our intent to help young people find a way out of the bitterness of poverty. We want to improve their development potential and create new opportunities for their future. For this very reason, we focus our efforts on social entrepreneurs and organizations that devote themselves to combating the causes of abuse and commit themselves to helping these young people to live their lives with dignity.
